You flopped the nut straight, but you don't have a re-draw and will loose to a higher straight or a flush (two spades on the board or a back door). A pot size bet is needed to get the low draws to go away but your hand is very vunerable. |

What he said, twice. Sets, nut flush draw, and nut straight with higher redraw are all going to hang around, waiting to catch and pounce. Granted it's early, but you are likely to drop 400-500 if the straight doesn't hold.
Also, I can't stand when someone with the butt end of your straight catches a baby flush and calls you down "just in case". (that said, I probably would have limped in during Level I also. Since there's no redraw, I tread very carefully - A on turn, I get a little wiggle room - no A on turn, I don't get creative - see what the river holds - or takes away)

With a pot-sized bet and a call in front of you, two people still to act, a vulnerable hand, no redraws, and only T20 invested in the pot, I'd fold.

A smack on the nose for playing that hand.
Bad Matty.
Second...
Raise the pot.
Bail when a scare card hits.

You are playing one 2 card combination against eighteen others - with action still pending.
Just call on the flop. Yes, you have the nuts - but you want to control the pot more than the # of players right now. If a brick falls, the pot is big enough to build in to a monster with the right turn bet. At this point, a raise will chase away those players who would be unable to beat you on the turn- so give them a chance to improve a bit - or even bluff. Then bring the hammer. |

Chips: 8,921 | | | Re: PLO8 - Posted for discussion... All good points. Yes, playing the hand was monumentally bad. I folded the flop as I didn't really feel like spewing chips when someone caught. It went no further than the turn which was a spade. I am so smrt.
Now you can sweat me, as we're in the money.
