Re: Online Poker - Is it unbeatable without HUD and PTracker?

Weak - I agree it's an excellent way of reviewing how you played it hand. Bar videoing yourself and playing back the session I don't really see any better way of looking into potential leaks in your game.

Shanghai - I also agree with you, although with PAHUD I think when you customise the HUD to display exactly what you want to know and where you want each figure it becomes much easier to manage.

I was about to poll this very topic but I like the discussion thread much better. Good stuff.

Here is an old 2+2 thread on using PT. It is still very helpful.

I have mine set to display voluntary hands played (non-blinds), percent raise on voluntary hands, post flop aggression, and showdown pecentage.
I believe these are the most common ones from the other threads and discussion.
Those give me the quicker reads on someones aggression/calling tendancies.

I am tempted to add +BB/100 to track if someone is winning or losing, but then I would watch that more than the players actions. Besides, all I have to do is roll the curser over the stats and see that info.

Re: Online Poker - Is it unbeatable without HUD and PTracker?

In response to the question in the subject line, yes, I do think that online poker is beatable without the tools. That said, the tools do make it easier and potentially more profitable, especially for those who multi-table (which I do not do BTW).

My recent cash-game play has been in non-HE games, mostly PLO, HORSE, Razz, Stud, and Stud8, all without tools, and generally at a profit. In these games I tend to run into the same players quite often and find note-taking to be very useful to identify the chasers and the rocks when choosing a seat.

My NLHE SNG results have improved since I started using PT and TourneyTime+, but I don't know if that's because of using tools to categorize opponents' play, because of my additional experience and "book learning," or because I use PT for self-analysis. I will be purchasing PT3 with PAHud when it's released.

Re: Online Poker - Is it unbeatable without HUD and PTracker?

BTW, I think it's essential past .5/1NL, even though I still don't use it (technophobe). At 1/2+, having just 3bet and call3bet % is so vital (which PT3 will have). I'm certain I'd be +1or 2BBs/100 if I had those stats.

Yes, as well as PT Stud. I can't justify the cost right now.

Check it out here: PokerIt - Online poker tournaments - statistics, rankings and software

It's free and uses the PT database.

Re: Online Poker - Is it unbeatable without HUD and PTracker?

I figured it out during the $5 tourney tonight.
I folded most of the early hands setting it up.
