Chips: 153 | | | Online Poker I have never really played online poker, thinking I can manage a bankroll. I've always just deposited $25-$50 and buyin to a few NLHE touraments. The only time's I have ever made it in the money is in a STT tourny. In the MTT's I have played, I find that when I take a bad beat or get a bad run of cards, I simply give up and dont care. I was in the feb bankroll challenge, and took a few beats and said f*** it and gave up. Any help of what I can do? I am going to re-deposit $50 tonight and see what I can do. I really would like to start builiding a bankroll online and keep it going.....

Those usually get anywhere from 1300 to 2500 players. The key to those MTT's is play super tight poker in the begining and really push your good hands hard. There are enough donks that you can build your chip stack consistently and stay in the tourney with that style. I've noticed that players who take the huge chip leads early in the MTT's are usually donks who get lucky and simply donk off the chips and never make it to at least cash in the tourney. The key obviously is to make the final 3 as the payouts are much much greater than even 6-9.

I believe that it's recommended that you have 100 buy-ins if your a tourney player. So, if your bankroll is $50, technically you should only be playing .50 tourneys, which probably isn't realistic. Definitely nothing bigger than $1 tourneys if you're on a $50 bankroll..
Regarding the giving up, I honestly don't know what to tell you. Someone with more online experience can help you there.. |

You may just be getting board playing a single tournament. Once I build my bankroll up a bit I am willing to play the higher buy-in SNG which I hardly do any longer. I usually multi-table(2-3) omaha H/L $1-2 $2-4 and $3-6. I just don't like holdem online much any more , I would rather play holdem in a live game. Online I would rather play omaha.. much easier to win. |

you have to have patience.
I found when playing online I can get jumpy, I'm much more likely to play hands I would never play live. I have worked on it, but still have problems now and then. I think this is because of the outside distractions (wife talking to you, kids talking to you, TV on, ect.) One thing I did is I don't play online when anyone else is around anymore. I wait till everyone goes to bed and I stay up and play.
Also I try and stick to 1 table sng's and cash games. The longer you are in a single game, it seems the looser you get.
Also take it one hand at a time, you have to shake off the bad beats and move on. Playing so many hands online (much faster than playing live) you are statistically going to catch more bad beats.

The key IS bankroll management!

(just curious by the way you said they have given you an entirely new view of the game) |

I should note that I play limit ring games exclusively....
