Bankroll issues

Just recieved my IB on Absolute. I find that playing at the .50/1.00 limit tables is a bit risky with the $45.00 I have left of the origanil $50. What level should I be at and is it worth the risk to try to clear the bonus money at the rake levels they want (min .50 rake which means a ten dollar pot)? I don't have a ton of time to play and the bonus goes away in March.

IIRC you should be playing at 200BB for limit. With that you should be playing .10/.25.

Re: Bankroll issues

For limit I ascribe to the 300-500BB rule.
NL - 25 buy-ins
SNG - 50-100 buy-ins

Re: Bankroll issues

i think i'd need approximately 100000000000000000000000000000 buy ins to feel "safe" playing at absolute.

at ftp or p* i'd want about what littlebu is recommending.

I know. Ignorance got me where I am today. If I had been more aware I would have tried Ultimate bet for the free money. I do have about $30 in on P*. I don't really care that I make a ton of money, just tired of play money and want to preserve what I have.

Re: Bankroll issues

The $100 Instant Bankroll at AP is a joke. I was thinking about trying it, because sending real $$ to fund an AP account is not high on my want-to-do list, but then I read the fine print. Sure, it's $100 in free money, if you succeed. They give you $50, make you play at least .50/1.00, and if you're lucky enough to survive 375 raked hands, you get another $50. Real friendly promotion

The Instant Bankroll at Ultimate Bet is a lot better. You don't have a minimum limit to play, so you can play .05/.10 with 500 big bets at your disposal, and grind your way to the 200 Ultimate Point goal, gaining 0.1 Ultimate Points at-a-time, until they give you that last $50. And if you play stud, each hand has a one-penny-ante, so each hand will get you Ultimate Points, and you can get to 200 Ultimate Points playing one table for just 4 hours a week. As an added bonus, the .05/.10 7-stud games at UB are ridiculously easy if you're selective on 3rd street.

Re: Bankroll issues

Chalk it up to lack of experience. Too late now as only one IB thru pokersource. Live and learn but there is no way to get that $50.00 without a lot of play and a lot of luck. I may just take my chances at .50/1.00 and have fun until it's gone.
