Gang,

I opened P* a little earlier (actually to sweat Iplaypoker) and it informed me a new version of the software was available. As usual, I downloaded it.

AVG lit up like a Christmas tree with the warning that the trojan Downloader.Swizzor was detected.

I'm still in the middle of the cleanup process after having that deposited on my machine, but wanted to let everyone know to be careful with this on.

pokerstars uses software to monitor screen reading software on your pc (like calculatem etc) this can be seen as trojan by some virusscanners

I'm actually not all that sure where it could have come from. I run a pretty tight ship and this is the first time I've ever had a virus turn up in nearly 4 years on this particular machine (and install of Windoze if that means anything!).

Looks like everything is cleaned up on my end now. Just in case, I've un-installed stars as well as the associated directories. I'll do a re-install of stars from scratch later on.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Any others are welcome. It just struck me as strange. That's all.

There was a post on 2+2 about this. They say its a false positive though and P* is working with AVG to resolve the issue.

I e-mailed pokerstars as this happened to me yesterday. They replied back that it is a false positive, which was "confirmed through the use of alternate scanners from McAfee and Symantec."
