Well I signed up on Pokerstars to play in the weekly chiptalk tourney and well while i was waiting until 9:30 pm ET, I figured what the heck, why not try some other tourneys. So I deposit 200 bucks and enter two tourneys at 8 pm.
One tourney is a 50 cent (yes, you read correctly, fifty whole cent buyin tourney - no rebuys/addons) and the other was a $3 buyin tourney (unlimited rebuys during the first several levels plus an addon during the first break).
The 50 cent tourney had about 4,000 players and the $3 tourney had a little less than 3,300 players.
In the 50 cent tourney I was playing pretty well, but busted out in 2,049 out of 3,395. I was playing this one at the same time as the other, but since this was such a low payout, i wasn't paying nearly as much attention to this tourney as i was to the $3 one which would pay almost $6,000 to the winner!!!
In the $3 tourney, I placed 177 out of 3,231 players and cashed!!! I paid the initial $3 plus a double re-buy (another 6) and then an addon (another 3) for a total investment of $12. With my 177th place finish i cashed with $42.75.
I do have to say though with this many players and low rebuys/addons, there was a lot of craziness going on until the rebuy/addon period was over. It was a real all-in slugfest for the first hour and i was glad to have gotten through it with one bust out.
And most importantly of all, in the chiptalk.net tourney i placed 16 out of 47. But I have to say, I wish I would have cashed in this tourney then the other because you guys are more serious about poker and overall "better" players so I think it would have been a more meaningful accomplisment.
So all in all, I made a little bit of chump change but more importantly had a blast of a time.
I think this will be my downfall.................my gf might not see me anymore, there's a new "gal" in town for me
