If so, I still think this wasn't entirely a bad push, with you short-stacked. Possibly everybody folds (unless another short stack sees a chance for a coin flip, like Andy.) I probably would have folded, personally...I do generally agree with Phil here, but I can still see why you pushed in this situation. |

Sure, he's only a 2:1 dog against 1 strong hand, but he's up against 2 (presumably strong) hands, and although his hand has lots of draws, it's still a marginal hand to be throwing 1/3 of your stack away on.
My take (re: Andy's play) is "let the smaller stacks eliminate each other and look for easier pots to put my big-stack pressure on". But I'm no poker expert, and have a horrible record at tournament play, with very little experience at PLO tournaments... so take my comments with a large block of salt. |

Its quite possible that there were plays upto this point that may not have made this look as bad. It looks like a classic example of a big stack gambling his stack away. |

Although I'm far from being an Omaha expert, I don't like shoving behind a 3.5x opening raise and a smooth call with your stack size and basically just KK. Based on the previous action, I expected to see both calls (although I was surprised at inthedriverseat's opening raise when I saw his hand). Did you want their action, or were you hoping one or both would fold? If the starting stacks were T1500, you're just under the average stack of $10.8K. Although picking on another medium stack near the bubble can be profitable (unless his mom is about to disconnect him), this is not the best time to mix it up with a large stack without a stronger hand. I'd fold here and wait for a better hand and/or better position.
Since you asked, no, you're not dumb.

With your push you are offering 2.4:1 pot odds to the first guy and better for the 2nd guy if the first guy calls. You just can't be that big of a favourite in PLO to make it likely that both fold here.
You want all 6 possible hands working for you in PLO. You have one, with a weak straight draw with your low cards and a weak flush which are virtually worthless.
Pairs in Omaha suck because they have almost no showdown value. Even if you make your set you are far more likely to lose to a straight or flush in PLO than Holdem. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
