Question What is "Player Juice" ?

Our affiliate account at FullTILT makes all of about $2 a month. Always has, since 2005.

This month however, there was a little bonus on the account. I won't say how much (not a fortune), but it was more than the regular few bucks.

The report shows that the bonus was from a category called "Player Juice."

I don't play much, and I don't follow these reports much either.

What is that?

Re: What is "Player Juice" ?

I believe it's tournament fees.

Re: What is "Player Juice" ?

Juice in the traditional sense is "interest".
I don't know how FTP is using it. Perhaps a piece of a players action? (like a rakeback or something?)

Re: What is "Player Juice" ?

From AskMen.com - Poker economy
Paying the juice
A professional poker player who relies solely on tournaments has major obstacles to overcome. First, he must pay juice of approximately 6% in every event he enters. Juice has increased through the years, despite the advent of televised poker and corporate sponsorship for events such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP). If poker continues to gain in popularity and sponsorship dollars, then it’s possible that one day, we’ll see money added to the prize pool of major tournaments instead of taken out. A more likely scenario, however, is that we’ll continue along the current path, and added money will come in the form of sponsorship deals for individual players and deals for players who make final tables.

Juice charged by tournament organizers might have fallen in the past few years if players had demanded it. An economist observing the poker scene would note that, whatever players might say, their price elasticity of demand is low. In the cross section, tournaments that have higher fees don’t have lower turnouts, and in the time series, tournaments that have increased their fees have not witnessed slower growth than tournaments that have not increased their fees. The WSOP demonstrates both of these points. The bottom line seems to be that poker players are hungry for opportunities to gamble and are not particularly sensitive about price

(tournament fees)

Re: What is "Player Juice" ?

Here's another reference as to juice being tournament fees.

Juice Poker Term - House Juice - Juice the Deck

Juice
1) Sometimes broadly defined as any casino or house collection or rake,
more commonly juice refers to the fee associated with a tournament entry
2) Juice the deck: to favorably stack or alter a deck of cards

I think based on this stuff that one of our referrals joined a large tournament.

Re: What is "Player Juice" ?

Yep. That's probably it. I found one of the FTP spreadsheets while searching on this and it looked like that's what would have caused the bump this month for you from that. Nice.
