The 5:1 only applies on the flop, and ONLY if you expect your opponent to check the turn.

Yes I was thinking about the flop. I was thinking that he (userunknown0) needed 5:1 to bet on the flop. He has four outs for the gutshot straight, but he was getting a little less than 2.5:1 on his $2.25 bet into a $5.50 pot. Did I not figure that correctly? I guess I am not sure how you should apply the assumption that "ONLY if you expect your opponent to check the turn."

As far as the turn goes wasn't he betting $5 into a $12.75 pot (2.6:1)?

Am I just limiting my thinking to pot odds and ignoring implied odds?
