i wait (and expect others to wait) in situations where i know people (CT shorthanded situations, my HU matches). if it's a random pickup game online, i consider it a EV+ situation with no downside, and don't understand why i'd wait one second. |

Also consider that the blind timer isn't gonig to wait. The blinds are going up whether they come back or not, so waiting is just going to make the price of poker go up.
Like others have said though, if its someone I know or a CT game, I'd wait. Random internet opponent, ya snooze ya lose.

A pre set up match (CT or other friend) I wait. Non pre set up ( a normal sng/mtt) an edge is an edge even if their not there. Believe me their not waiting if the roles are reversed.

Default is to fire away. We all take the same risk of connection problems, and I don't expect anyone to go out of their way to help me take their money. I see no reason to help them take mine. It's like a suckout.
Sometimes, if it's a friendly game or I feel like being nice, I'll wait. Sometimes I'll also open a door for someone with their hands full, even if it's a dude. Not often though.

Happened to me for the first time HU at the end of a tourney a couple days ago.
He had a big (5:1) lead, so I hammered until we were even , when he was able to
reconnect. |

When I play in a big tourney, or timing is important, I will run the 25' cable to my router and bypass the wireless. Also for this reason, I am working on dumping Charter cable internet as they have too many problems at certain times of the day when traffic is heavy.
