I think the check-raise also helps to get jacks and tens out of there (although a player with AJ is not folding - he has 9 outs against me which is plenty). If I get reraised, I call and hope to hit one of my 4 outs.

Why would you want to knock out GS draws?

Because the pot is large and I want everybody to fold. With a big pot, it's not about tempting you opponents to make poker mistakes anymore, it's all about winning that pot.

It's always about having opponents make mistakes (FToP), and it's never about winning that pot. I wouldn't call a 5BB pot big, but that's me.
My only concern w/check calling is how the river plays out. Check raising the turn makes river play easier, but I doubt the tradeoff is worth it.
