Is anyone trying to qualify for the PCA using the "step" system? Just figured I'd create a thread that would allow people to keep the board updated on any success (or lack thereof) you're having...
Personally, I joined Step 1 using the freeroll process (500 FPP points). Lost the first tournament (5th), qualified for a step 2 ticket in my second tournament, and have won 4 retries for level 2 -- which is where I'm currently stuck.

Reason: Updated results
Good for you -- I finally earned my step 3 ticket this evening. Is it wrong to feel overly protective of it? I mean, it was technically free, but I don't want to end up having to redo any of the previous levels...
I'm doing pretty good, a week or so ago I entered the first level and did poorly. This morning I went back to step 1, and I've moved up from there. I'm at Step 3 right now.
Not bad -- I just qualified for Step 4 about 5 minutes ago.
How are you finding the quality of play? It might just have been my table, but I found that although people are a bit more patient, they're still playing the same cards as they were in the earlier levels, and they're still making the same mistakes (eg. overvaluing pocket pairs) as in the lower steps.
Another question: how are you deciding which tournament(s) to enter? I'm following the belief that it's better for me to play at night (after 8pm), since that's when most of the weaker players would (theoretically) be online.
(Not saying I'm a strong player -- just that I like to think I'm a decent tournament player.)

My observation is that in the morning and early afternoon the games @ P*'s seem to be hard to beat. Tons of European players that are decent. In the evenings its completely the opposite. This is for cash & tourneys. Good luck to all that are attempting these...
