Chips: 7 | | | Full Tilt Play Money vs. Real $$ Hi all,
I'm new to the online poker scene. I registered on Full Tilt with the promise to my wife that I would not deposit ANY cash and only play the "play money" games.
So, I start with my $1k in play money and hit the 5/10 NL holdem tables. After two nights of dodging some ridiculous play/donks, I'm up $15k.
...Now I'm wondering...if I had deposited $100 and played low stakes games for real money, could I expect the same positive results? Or, is this the trap that Full Tilt uses to pocket my potential $100?
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. If this has been covered by a FAQ or previous post, I was unable to find it - d'oh! |

Unfortunately the fame and fortune of being a professional play money player was just not what I expected... |

I would suggest playing a few play-money sit-n-go tournies. Ignore the play of the first 4 to 5 players that go out. When you get down to the last 3 or 4, that is similar to the regiular play on the $5+.50 sit-n-gos. If you can make the top 3 regularly with play money, you should be able to move over to the micro-stakes and make it profitable. |

I'm new to the online poker as well, so I'm curious as to if I can play for real money. Obviously I can (since I read of a lot of you doing it), but I've missed how that happens (on P*s or any other site).
What am I missing? If this has already been covered a million times, sorry... |

I started out with freerolls since I didn't like the idea of loosing money. The freerolls get tougher the deeper you get, so you still get a bit of a feel for money games when the all-in clowns have busted out. Still I found the $1 and $2 Sit and Go's to be very easy, often with 2-3 people busting out on the first hand. |

If this has already been covered a million times, sorry... | Congress made it illegal for financial institutions to transfer money between players and sites. sites like PartyPoker had such strong ties to the US, that it shut down play to US customers to avoid trouble. Sites like PokerStars (located in Europe) aren't as intimidated by US Congress.
Technically, it has always been illegal for an individual in the US to gamble online.
If you want to play, I did a quick search on Google, and it provided this page: Online Poker Reviews, USA poker rooms and US Internet poker. |

No one has ever said it was illegal to play poker online just more difficult to get money into and out of them. Its seems kind of hit or miss nowadays when using credit or debit cards to deposit money. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
