I haven't the faintest how one becomes a pro pitcher - do you just go around to parks and throw balls really fast - "Hey did you see that one?!?" (I know how one would become a poker pro - just don't have the gumption or the talent to do so...) Looking forward to hearing how your adventures go.
Also, I like your dots.

Can you please elaborate a bit on the KK hand where you wish you had donked the river? Your only "mistake" of the session.
What was the board like, and why did you think call/donking was better than 3 betting the turn?
Thanks.
Looking forward to the next entry - should be around Christmas, right?

Looking forward to the next entry - should be around Christmas, right? | I dont remember the board exactly but I think it was JT77 on the turn. When he raises the turn I really thought the guy had a 7, but after playing with him for awhile longer I realized that this guy often raised the flop or turn with weak SDable hands and then would check the next street if he got called. So my guess was that he raised the flop with a J or a T, but then got scared when he got called and checked behind on the river. My hand was probably worth at least 1-2 more BB on that board since I'm beating all reasonable holdings he can have except for a 7, and if I just call the turn raise I can bet-call the river and control the amount of bets that go in. Plus I trap the third player between us improving my equity since I was very confident that I had a better hand than him (I figured he had a J).
it was a mistake of just not being used to seeing players raise a turn card and then check behind on an innocuous river card. I know what the free showdown play is, and I know when to use it, but a) I don't think this guy was making that play AND b) this spot really didn't make since for a FSD raise since he would never fold to a 3-bet or river donk and thet board wasn't extremely draw heavy.
it was definitely an odd spot, and if the same situation came up against this player I would have put in more action. I guess my play was reasonable if not correct based on the fact that he was pretty much unknown to me at the time. |
