I've propped online before. The problem is that the games are shorthanded, limited availability, and they tend to be on sites where the software isnt that great. The biggest problem is that I can't make enough propping small stakes on small sites when I can play medium stakes on bigger sites and have good software and find 2-4 great games.

If you are good at poker then you can always make more than a prop can, but if you are starting out figuring the game out and don't mind playing the shorthanded games on small sites it is a great way to minimize your variance while you figure the game out.
