Chips: 37 | | | Would you have moved in on this hand? I was playing in the nightly Triple Shootout tournament at Pokerstars tonight, $3.00+$0.30 buyin. It had 728 people in. I beat my first table, and on my second table I was heads up with, with my final opponent having a little over a 4 to 1 chip lead, and blinds at 100/200. The following hand happened, I'm wondering if you would have played it this way and moved in:

Seat 9: Ikkans (big blind) showed [2s 9c] and lost with a straight,

I certainly didn't put him on a runner runner flush, and I don't think anyone would have thought he would have rivered a higher straight than I had made. If he reraised you, would you have moved all in like I did?
I was extremely disappointed when I lost, I could taste the final table. I busted on that hand and finished 16th out of 728 though, so I wasn't entirely disappointed. |

he raised you on the river. most players are unlikely to do that with two pair, so he's got a set, a straight or a flush. you beat a set, lose to 1 straight and tie another, and lose to the flush.
why wouldn't you put him on the flush or the straight? you guys checked it down, couldn't he have anything? i can't really tell why pushing there is better than calling. call and move on. |

Though essentially, you did the same with the minimum bet, he reraised, you were thinking about doubling up and you pushed. *These higher straights are killing members here lately.*
As for what I would have done, it depends. Why did he have a little more than a 4:1 chip lead over me. Was he playing well or were the other players dumping chips to him. Did I suffer a bad beat and now I'm on Tilt or at least steaming because of it? So with that being said, if I thought he was a poor player, on Tilt, hoping to double up, I push. That has happened before. On the other hand, given that there's a possible flush and a possible higher straight (it's good to know what he had ), I'm just calling his reraise, losing 1K and now it's push time.

Chips: 37 | | | Re: Would you have moved in on this hand? I guess the major problem was that he had been calling with marginal hands a lot at that table. When we were 3 handed we looked like this:
Me: 7,500
Him: 3,000
3rd Person: 3,000
I was dealt AJ on the button and raised it, he called and the 3rd guy folded. The flop came A Q 4 and I raised it, he reraised and I pushed him all in. He called, his cards: Q 9. I had him dominated. The turn was a 9 and he doubled up through me. I think that's one of the major reasons that I called.
I also didn't put him on a flush because he had been betting flush draws during the entire round. |

while yu may get someone to call with 2p (or an A), in all liekhood you will be called by a split pot at best.
I do not fold to the raise - but would want to play it safe and conserve some chips while I could. That extra 1200 will most likely not give you the extra edge to win the tournament, but handing on to them will give you a way to win if you lose the hand (ok- not a great one, but something is better than zero).
Plus - I would not rule out runner runner flush. With no action, you have no idea what they hold - and the betting could easily indicate a flush. |

Looking back after I got knocked out, I realized that I should have checked it down, and you're right, in retrospect the best I was really looking at was a split pot, but instead the thought of doubling up had me pushing all my chips in the pot. Oh well, there are 2 triple shootouts tonight I'm gonna play, hopefully I'll hit the final table in at least one of them this time. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
