Chips: 2,304 | | | online etiquette: what to do when your opponent sits out? Yesterday:
Was playing NL10 cashgame and was headsup with somebody. Lower than average pot. I'm first to act, I check, my opponent waits and waits..... tick tick and sits out. And so actomatically checks behind.
What's the right way to handle it?
I thought a second, than bed so he autofolded. It was a small pot so it wasn't that dramatically at all and I also didn't wanna slow down the game.
How would you handle it? Maybe he just left or he got disconnected. What in a huge pot? take it?

In HU, if someone is disconnected or sitting out, I just min raise every time from either position and go on to the next hand. I've seen them never come back once or twice, but usually they re-appear so be careful and be ready to play when they call or raise you back. |

But as Tom said...be careful and ready that they may all of a sudden reappear.

You think they'll let you off in a pot?

There is no reason why you should be penalized because he isn't there/his wife is yelling at him/his connection is bad. Also, you and the rest of the table are penalized if you have to wait for that guy constantly.
Sometimes you will have a good value hand, and lose money because he can't call you; sometimes you gain a bit because he has a better hand and can't call you. For you, it all ends up in the was, I think.
I'm glad I don't live in the boonies.

ummmm - you should be really nice and check it down
it's not t heir fault the comcast tech's cant get the job done.................
j/k - really, you have to bet it out. I know going in that I am going to be hosed from time to time by my connection (whoppeeee - third comcast visit in a month coming up on Firday). For every time it has hurt me, there has been a time it has helped me. Poker may be a social game, but when the object is to take someone elses $$- it is not really a friendly game. |

I've done this in cash games and sit-n-gos, although in one sit-n-go I played it was two of us taking the stack of a third player who disconnected. If I'm using Comcast or some POS wireless home network, I deserve to have my funds taken when I get disconnected, so I will return the favor. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
