Was This Really That Bad?

Please be honest.

Last night I was playing in an 8000 player $200 freeroll on P*.

There were around 500-550 players left, blinds were at 600/1200/ante (can't remember at this point) and I have 8650 left. I'm UTG and get dealt and move all-in. I get 2 callers, flop comes . Check, check. Turn is . Check, check. River is . Check, check.

My cards are revealed, player to my left mucks, player to his left shows . The guys at the table just start ripping into me after I bust out. "Pushing with that?" "WTF kind of move was that?" "Some guys just get off pushing that all-in button." "Risking his whole stack this deep with tens?"

I had around 7BB and this was the best hand I've seen in about 20 minutes. Was this play really that bad? Or were these guys just being tools? Again, please be honest.

Not horrible considering blinds IMO. You've still got plenty of poker left, I would have waited for a better hand, or just play more flops.

The 56o call was atrocious.

Yeah...I need to learn to start playing more hands, especially when these get down to 1000 players or so.

Yes, I was pretty dumbfounded with the call, but he had like 98,000. Maybe he was hoping his cards were live? I don't really know how else to justify his call.

With an M that low, you're practically in the land of ATC. You made the right move. What were the chances that they were berating the big stack for his move with 56o?

Re: Was This Really That Bad?

If you would have seen a flop, you are still pushing...so, you tried to isolate and got called by a loose player...plus it's a freeroll, so anyone can call with anything.

Re: Was This Really That Bad?

Given the typical player you are up against in a freeroll...ATC will likely play. would have limped to see if there was any action first. in a different setting maybe would go 3x BB ...in frerollls, free is the operative word. not a horrible move but the nature of a freeroll changes things at least for me.

Re: Was This Really That Bad?

I would have done the same as you. But you're tournament is over no matter what. Even if you called the BB, or raised 3x, you see that flop and it's insta-push.

These were exactly my thoughts as the hand unraveled.
