Thanks for all the info

On FTP cash games the cards get turned up in an all in HU situation - at least in the micro limit games I have played in | I think they have this option to protect folks from cheating, if you've got $200 in front of you and have $20 in a pot that you could easily be drawn out on, you could protect your stack by unplugging...like taking your chips off the table in the middle of a hand if you're afraid you might be put all-in...pretty cheap....but we all know there are all kinds on these sites.

I guess my comment came from reading another thread about "Poker set ups" I was amazed to see how many people are using PT & PA and data mining. Seems to me if a lot of people are doing that you would be at a disadvantage if you don't have the info available ahead of time. Not sure if I want to deal with it though |

PA (and other huds) are the next logical step to help in profiling your competition. |

I only play at the tables at Party where there is an all-in protection because my connection has had 5 minute disconnects every now and then. I'm actually surprised that people don't seem to abuse the possibility of disconnecting teh internets when someone makes an unexpected move. Only once have I been in a hand where I was disconnected, and then I had top-two pair so I was kind of glad that I did win the small pot instead of being folded. The most annoying thing with the protection is that even the blinds are protected. For instance if the small blind is disconnected and someone raises and everyone else folds, the cards will still be dealt for a pot consisting of 1.5x BB. This also forces the raiser to show his cards.
Party also hides the cards until the end at all-ins. I used to find this very annoying, since the cards are shown at the HH they might as well flip them over when the action ends. But lately I've been thinking of my playing less in terms of winning/loosing and more as good decisions vs bad decisions and the turning of the card makes all-ins a more exciting gamble, and I've tried to minimize the gambling aspects of my playing . Don't know if this makes any sence though | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
