He thinks that after the deal, online poker should show your cards face down (just like everyone else). When you want to look at your cards you need to click on a "peek" button or just click on your cards. Everytime you look, it will make your cards blink or turn a different color, so everyone else at the virtual table knows you just looked.
I think it is a great idea. Part of reading people at the table is watching them take an extra look at their cards. Having your cards face down online would simulate table play much better.
What do you think? Note, I only have played two online sites, so this may be used somewhere already, which will make my entire post look stupid. | DDPoker, which is a free online poker program and/or poker trainer, has this as an option. You just mouse-over your cards to view them, but otherwise they're down. But your opponents (a) will generally have this option turned off, and (b) can't tell when you're looking at your cards (and vice versa). I tried it for a little while just for fun (to help me memorize my cards) but in the end, I turned it off. As TMJ2K said, it's a waste of time.
There's a new (ish) 3D online poker site... I think it's called "PKR", and, although I haven't tried it myself, it tries to replicate live play more, with various emotions available, etc. I'm not exactly sure why one would intentionally give tells, but it's possible. And maybe there they make you peek at your cards... but as I said, I haven't actually tried it. |

Your cards are face down and to look at them you place the cursor over them and they show. When you do this your cards move towards you and then away from you again when you take the cursor off and this movement is visible to the other players. Also when you put your cursor over your chips either to bet or count they move too, also visible to everyone else. If you put your cursor over the pot to see how much is there your usename floats up in a "bubble" so the other players know that you just counted the pot. Makes for an interesting twist. |

And for the serious players there will be third party software that will have your cards face up all the time if the idea is generally use by sites. I don't think the idea will catch on. |

Not a bad flop for their hand either.

I don't want to play on average of 1:30 minute SNG's. Though it might not change the time a game is played but with that option we would see fewer hands.
Now if there's an option where I can see my opponents cards, I might be interested in that. Iri sh |

Thread-jack aside. I think all those blinking cards would drive me nuts.
I'd rather go out and look at the stars twinkle after my next rigged online badbeat...

They also show when your opponents are peeking at them as well. But all in all, PKR is SLOW play anyways, so it's not a site to go to for real poker play as much as its visual entertainment value. I would never put money there, that's for sure. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
