Re: i played much bigger than usual

yeah, it would suck to go broke online, not b/c i'd be poker broke, but b/c it would be demoralizing to have to rebuy (point of pride!).

haven't gotten anything yet: plan to close on the bose ipod docking station soon though.

smoore: silver star brag? that would be a pretty weak brag, doncha think?

I just bought one of those for my daughter, a nice machine with great sound. I guess it would be nice to buy one with the FPP points.

silver star congrats

Re: i played much bigger than usual

Apart from bankroll concerns, do you have any insights on the difference of the two levels? Also if you noticed any hands that were played differently. Perhaps you'd like to post some of the interesting hands? I would be very interested to hear what you learned and what you thought about your opponents.

The play at 1/2 isn't particularly sophisticated. I think you could sum it up by saying there are fewer players at a given table who are just as happy to lose their entire stake on a pure bluff. At the lowest levels I would double constantly due to that. At 1/2 you have a lot less of that going on.

Re: i played much bigger than usual

When I moved to $5 SnG's from $2 turbos, aside to a decrease in people who didn't know the basics (calling a large river bet while playing the board, for instance with a counterfeited third pair), I noticed that people could slow play a weak over pair like QQ, even though its rare in $5 games I had never seen that in the smaller games. I think that things like these might be quickly forgotten when people move to bigger games and since I think jojo is very adapt at noting different poker situations he might have some insight.

silver (I believe) gives you an extra 25% -

so if you earn 100 in a setting, they give you 125.

the stores then offer you more in the way of electronics - like a Ipod nano for like 18K FPP and flatpanel monitors (20" samsung) for 28K. If you play enough to get the silver and up, the extra FPP bonus really adds up to some neat stuff.

it's hard to say; b/c of the style i was playing i didn't bother evaluating the players .

i really just wanted to grind out hands to get my fpps at minimum risk. the plan:
6 tables. buyin $45, rebuy up to 45 if below 35. fold everything but TT+, AQ+. can limp with pairs in CO or later.

raise 10x bb with any raising hand, push any flop against one caller. reevaluate against multiple callers or with limping hands, but push AA/KK against any number of callers on the flop.

double up and then leave when the blinds come around.

and so on.

this isn't dependent on other players' styles, unless there're other super-short stacks. a guy sitting on $300 just isn't that concerned with doubling me up, especially if there's another player in the pot offering him implied odds.

if you want to hear what the game is like, i recommend listening to var, who regularly plays that limit, or 2+2 small stakes nl forum, which has a great FAQ on the subject.

Considering I can't get to LEAD STAR, it's stronger than my sauce!
