I can NEVER complain about bad beats

Worked a double and was a little tired, so I figured I would play at least one SNG. First I though about play money but then I decided on a small stakes SNG ($5+.50). Played tight and made some poor plays until it got six handed. Then I decided to push Ac Td UTG. Not a great hand but enough to take the blinds. Worse case scenario I go to bed. Flop a T and river a T for trips. Lucky.

Later on my A/A holds up against 6/6 who pushes all in UTG.

Well now it's HU against a guy who was plying well all game. I like my chances but I played WAY too AGGRESIVE and become extremely short stacked. The better player has me dominated with a chip stack of 11,810 vs 1690. Somehow I build it back up and he's had a 3K lead over me. Here's one of the bad beats I gave him.

PokerStars Game #9955190602: Tournament #50487643, $5.00+$0.50 Hold'em No Limit - Level VIII (200/400) - 2007/05/17 - 02:06:15 (ET)

I liked my hand but I got very, very lucky. Donk number 2

Here's the final hand and bad beat number 2.

PokerStars Game #9955202303: Tournament #50487643, $5.00+$0.50 Hold'em No Limit - Level VIII (200/400) - 2007/05/17 - 02:07:33 (ET)

So after those last 2 bad beats, I know I'm not allowed to complain about bad beats for awhile.

Re: I can NEVER complain about bad beats

Pure luck, I wish I could say there was some skilled involved in those 2 hands but I KNOW I can't.

After geting lucky with A/T, I played decent but then I reverted back to playing like a D.A. H.U.

Re: I can NEVER complain about bad beats

Wow. Congrats! I feel a bit sorry for the other guy, must suck to have your aces cracked by K9 - especially when you didn't just get a flush.

Had a similar experience in a two table 1€ sng that I played. I was at the final table, about 7 people left, with 105 in chips in the BB when the blind was 50/100. Called a raise with the remaining 5 chips and my 55 beat his AA. Next hand I pushed AJo from the small blind, two callers. Flop J-high, won the hand. A few more lucky hands and I was the second in chips. Unfortunately the chip leader was to my left and he always pushed when it was folded to him. Back then my lucky hand was K8o and I called from the BB his 33 and lost when he flopped a set.

Re: I can NEVER complain about bad beats

After coming back from being that far down HU you get on a rush. You suddenly feel that any above average hand will win. Just goes to show you - once all your chips are in play you simply are at the mercy of the cards. Glad they went your way this time.

Re: I can NEVER complain about bad beats

I once lost a $5 + .50 heads up match when I was ahead 2,925 to 75....incredible string of hands. I just went all in 4 hands in a row and the guy won every hand...then he proceeded to hit every flop and ...b-bye.

Re: I can NEVER complain about bad beats

Its nice to know even the good players get lucky once in awhile too

I had a hand last night with a raised AQ with 2 of us to the flop, flop comes Q94r, I bet about the pot, guy raises me, I call, turn is another Q, I check, he bets, I push, he calls and shows 99 for a flopped set, river is an A giving me runner, runner for a bigger boat.

Re: I can NEVER complain about bad beats

Few weeks ago in our .25/.50 cash game, I'm holding 5,7 suited. There's a standard raise to $3 by a LAG player, which I call. Flop comes 3,4,6 rainbow, I bet $5 and LAG goes all in for like $15 more. Of course I call, he shows A,A...turn comes 6, to pair the board, river comes Ace.... hahahahahaha. I love poker sometimes...just glad it was only $23. I realize that I win this 96% of the time, so it's all good. Just amazing sometimes, how percentages change so drastically from the flop to the river.

I believe you hit it right on the head, it was a rush and nothing else. I had a hand that I could raise but made a bad call and lucked out.

Oh, I complain but mostly to myself. Talking to oneself is not always a good thing, people may perceieve that you're strange. .

The good player lost. He played a solid game all night, I made some bad calls HU and then donked out. Though I've been on the other side too, where I play solid and someone else donked out. The poker gods were smiling on me this morning.

On your AQ hand vs. 99, tough to get away from that one.

That's a Daniel Negreanu type loss. Flop the so called nuts and lose on the river. I believe I saw a hand simialr to that on HSN.
