Play through this hand with me

This is going to seem like a simple hand, but I guess I did something wrong..

PokerStars Game #9936253202: Tournament #50401432, $6.00+$0.50 Hold'em No Limit - Level III (25/50) - 2007/05/16 - 00:07:59 (ET)

Action is on me. I'm a TAG, if people are paying attention. My first instinct is to raise to 200. My second instinct is to raise to 150.

Re: Play through this hand with me

sometimes I'll limp along. My default and 90% of the time is a 200-225 raise.

Re: Play through this hand with me

Well, I hardly think you played it wrong. Most of the time that push is going to be a flush draw, or an overpair (prob AA). Sometimes flopped set of 8's or 7's, I guess.
A flopped straight would likely have checkraised you allin, or strung you along a bit more. Even if it was a straight, you have outs. I'd call here everytime unless he pushed and showed the 9T.
That's just poker.

Re: Play through this hand with me

I agree with BM here. Nothing wrong with the way you played it. only a 9 10 had you beat after the flop and, based on your raise, you could almost bet that he didn't call pre-flop with that (unless he's an absolute donk).

It's just a bad hit to take. Sorry.

And you only gave the board an hour and 20 minutes to reply before your "no interest" post - which, depending on time zones, could be people's lunch break. (that, and maybe people have become immune to your bad-beat posts)

Re: Play through this hand with me

I had a hunch he had a FD, I run into that move a lot with them. With just top pair, maybe even an overpair I might be able to lay it down. I wasn't sure if anyone would make an argument to fold, given the flush and straight possibilities (he had both draws)

With blind structure already, I knew I was ahead, and called hoping to hang on. I didn't. Oops. I still had a re-draw on the river to take it down, but it didn't come.

The only time you're ever going to fold that is in a tournament situation where folding can move you up in the money almost certainly and substantially (ie one or more opponents is very short stacked with the blinds coming soon.) Just like it's sometimes right to fold AA preflop.
You are ahead 98% of the time here, and have 10 outs to the river if you fall behind on the turn.

Really??? My first instinct is exactly the opposite. Although I think I see where you're coming from.... 13 outs (actually 12 right? Unless your counting the 3 Kings as an out) it's not too far from a coinflip and you can always reload in a cash game whereas in the tourney, when you're out, you're out...

Is that your line on this?

to the OP, folding top set here would be awful, just awful.

Actually, it was over 15 hours. I'm not sure how you came up with an hour and 20 minutes, even if you thought the 12 were pm, or 3 were am, that would still be a minimum of three hours..

12:11 a.m. ---> 3:34 p.m.
