What's the most common way you bust out of a tournament?

Just wondering if there were any trends. Some events my lead to others e.g. losing a coin-flip means you have to gamble with your short stack etc.

I overplay and get trapped.
Usually because I got sucked out bad two hands prior.

Re: What's the most common way you bust out of a tournament?

I voted for gambling with a short stack. I used to play tournaments overly tight, and then get blinded off. I got sick of it, so I started taking more risks with a short stack. I used to bubble a lot, or barely get into cash. Now, I either coast into the money, set myself up for a run at the win, or am out a little earlier.

The last hand tells the tale of the night for me... I either win it all or bust out on the last hand I play...

I usually either overplay my hand, or put someone on something that they don't have...

Re: What's the most common way you bust out of a tournament?

Not that there aren't times where I play bad, but for the most part, I play "smart". I'm fairly good with my reads on players, and can pick up when and when not to bluff, push, or trap. That being said, I'm friggin famous at my home games for bad beats. Take your pick, I've been beat. If there were no river card in Texas Holdem, I'd be better than Hellmuth himself I hate the river, it's dirty, and mean!

I like that. If there was no river card in poker you'd win everytime.

Ya, I may have to institute a new rule at my home games; If you're in a pot with me, you have to pay me a fee to see the river!! Hey, it's my house, my rules

Or just have a flop, no turn or river.

Re: What's the most common way you bust out of a tournament?

Usually I play pretty well for the first hour. After that I become "Action man" and spew all my chips away... I guess I have no patience for tourney poker...
