The state of Macintosh poker

IT APPEARS THAT PARALLELS BUILD 3150 WILL INDEED RUN PAHUD 1.16!

-- Native OSX APPS --
Networks:

OnGame (pokerroom, et.al.) - not available to US players (?? correct?)
FullTilt Poker - available to US players
Party Poker - not available to US players
Poker Stars - beta client available by contacting support@pokerstars.com

Statistics tracking:

MacPoker Pro -

I TRIED IT, I DON'T THINK IT'S WORTH $40.

His licensing scheme is horrible, he charged existing users $20 to upgrade to the FTP capable client. I assume the same thing will happen with 'stars. His current "nickname" scheme only allows one player nickname... so you'd need a separate license for ongame and FTP?!?! Yeah. So anyway.... it's definitely not pokertracker:

Manually start each session
Can't import observed hands
Doesn't combine sessions (tables) from the same MTT, totally blowing any chance of an ROI% calculation.

Basically, I'm probably going to be spending $40 on this POS just so I don't have to reboot to play poker. I won't be very happy about it though... seriously considering just sticking with the dual-boot PITA.

-- JAVA --
http://www.compatiblepoker.com/Linux...Online.cms.htm

-- VIRTUAL MACHINES --
Parallels - PTracker and PAHud both work if you use RC3150
vmware - ??

-- EMULATION --
Crossover for Mac - $60, 60 day trial version. PTracker does not work, giving an error about the P2REG database. If it can't phone home for registration then it can't run. I stopped there

Anyone else have anything to say?

Re: The state of Macintosh poker

Found this list of places that work with Java.

http://www.compatiblepoker.com/Linux...Online.cms.htm

At one time when I was playing around with Linux I was going to try running it and playing online poker. Don't know if any on the list accept US players or if they are any good. I play for play money on Pokerrom once in a while.

Have you tried a windows emulator on your Mac, do they work at all?

good luck

Re: The state of Macintosh poker

Instead of rebooting through boot camp, why don't you spend (or find) a copy of Parallels so you can run your PC apps. in a window, thus negating the reboot. As soon as I upgrade to a new Mac, that's what I plan on using. Saves a lot of time I bet.

Re: The state of Macintosh poker

I would think VMWare is good option. I use it quite a bit at work but mostly I run other Windows VMs or Linux VMs under a WinXP host; never run under a Mac host though. I've run FTP, P*, PT and PA all under a VM image; get's around those pesky corporate auditing things.

Re: The state of Macintosh poker

So you've successfully used PAHUD under VMWare? The author's official stance is, "It doesn't work because of my anti-piracy code". That is, the Linux and OSX versions won't work because, "of a problem with how they emulate the CPU"

Re: The state of Macintosh poker

Unless they've added something into PA recently, I didn't have any problems with it but its been a few months since I've run it.

I believe the PA license code is based on not allowing concurrent usage of the product but its not machine specific like PT.

For PT, you'll need a new reg code as your PT license only allows 2 computers and the license is machine specific. You can drop and add computers simply by contacting pat @ pt.
