| Re: Full Tilt 25K Guarantee 1-30-2007 Well I was scraping and clawing on the bubble. Just hoping to get something out of it. Once the bubble burst, I got aces twice in the next 10 hands or so, got paid both times. Like any big tourney, a fair amount of luck was required, but I received about as many bad beats as I dished out. I was very pleased with my discipline and not getting drawn in with sucker hands.
Worst beat I put on somebody: I have KQ and see the flop with one other. Flop comes KQ8. I check , he bets, I raise, he calls. Turn is a J. I fire, he pushes. I figure he has A-10. So I call anyway (for my stack), hoping I'm wrong and that he has AK (amazing what you can talk yourself into sometimes). Well, he had it (A-10). And of course I get the Q on the river to boat up. I apologized for the next 5 minutes.
But I would guesstimate that I was drawn out on far more than I drew out on people. I generally did a good job of not taking bad risks (except for the example provided above) so even when I was sucked out on, it was not for all my money.
Final table was pretty tight and slow until we got to 3 handed play. Then it quickened. Heads up lasted 1 hand. I raise on the button with low suited connector (4c-5c) he calls, flop is something like 7-6-4. He bets, I call. Turn is a 3. He pushes I call. He shows K-3. River is no help to him. Done and done. |
