Microtable Escapades - Low Stakes Poker

Day 2 - Starting stack $6.21 after day one $10.61

I'm going on an odysee of small stakes poker. Please come along for the journey.

Now I'm playing 2 tables at a time .01/.02 nlhe (or "the small game" as it's called at the Bellagio)

I've sat down with $1 at each table, after about half an hour - one table I'm up to $1.92 the other I'm up to $2.21.

I've been calling medium raises to see flops and going aggressive and trapping folks. This next hand started the same way...but alas, things went perfect for him. I thought I was dead on the turn so it wasn't too much of a shock that I lost, but it was double -up that got away.

I'm amazed how many folks overplay hands or top pair with possible straights and flushes on the board, or folks that overplay straights and flushes on a paired board. Anyway, trappin gthese folks tends to work, see a bunch of flops and double through.

Re: Microtable Escapades - Low Stakes Poker

Whoa, that is not a move I'd make with 4,7 suited. I'd see a flop for little, but not risk that much, that's crazy. I don't play crazy, I wait until I actually have a lock. I can see your play there with JJ, but that flop was a killer for it.

Re: Microtable Escapades - Low Stakes Poker

Day 3 & 4

Day 3

I'm playing a bit loose...too loose and end up losing a couple big hands.
One table I lose the pot with a second nut flush to the nuts (needed both hole cards to complete). I lose about $5 and decide to play a $1 turbo 18 person SNG. End up out of the money when dealt pocket 10's. The blinds are getting decent ($200/400) so just streealing would be profitable to my lower than average stack. I think it over and decide just raising would allow some of the big stacks to take a stab, so I go all-in trying to shut the door. Wouldn't you know it, of the 4 people behind me one has AA and the other QQ...bye bye Chris.
End the day down to $4.64. total. Down almost $6 for the day.

Day 4
So I'm bored at work this morning, jump onto a single table and hit an incredible bunch of cards. Get away from one hand when dealt 8,8. Flop comes Q,Q,8. I bump it a little, get one caller...so ok, you must have a queen...but don't have a FH do you? Well the turn brings another Q...happily I didnt put the guy allin on the flop....lose only .35 in that hand. Keep getting dealt pocket pairs, and connecting for FH's. Had one guy get upset when I catch a 9 on the river to match my pocket 9's. He'd only made min bets through the first few cards and I thought my 9's were good with only a Q over. He ended up having K,9 ...not sure why he overbet with second pair on the river...Oh yeah there was a pair of 4's on the board too.

Discovered at these tables, people's betting patterns very easy to read. You know when they hit or miss...can't figure why someone that is making 5xbb bets on every street makes a min bet on the river...might as well tell everyone you missed your draw. People that have sets bet 10-20x the pot...uh, nice play...I fold.

End the day up 11.78 to $16.42.

Re: Microtable Escapades - Low Stakes Poker

Day 4 cont

Ok, so I get home tonight and jump on for a quick 45 minute session at the .01/.02 and make another $1.09...woohoo. Man I've got big stacks..lol. It's a quest now...I want ot play $.25/.50 so I need a lot more...I wonder if I can do it.

I leave to take my son to wrestling practice...

Jump back on at 10pm after I catch the HSP I missed from monday. I really don't feel like playing a cash game...I've got over $18 and figure I can chance a $5+.50 single table SNG. Well, first hand I donk off half my money. I build it back up but lose a race and go out. Now I'm bored, I only played for 30 minutes...but I don't want to play for hours (I need to be at work for 7am). SO I decide to hit a $3+.40 10 person turbo SNG. Well, this time I get some cards when I need them, hit a FH at a perfect moment and become chip leader. I never relinquish the lead and come in first...so I'm up over $23...maybe time to jump to .02/.04?

CBJ13: calls $6.33 and is all-in
jdavid7: calls $4.27 and is all-in
*** FLOP *** [4s 2c 7d]

*** RIVER *** [4s 2c 7d 2d] [Tc]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
CBJ13: shows [Kd Kc] (two pair, Kings and Deuces)
ZaplinG: mucks hand
CBJ13 collected $2.02 from side pot
jdavid7: mucks hand
CBJ13 collected $16.46 from main pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $19.43 Main pot $16.46. Side pot $2.02. | Rake $0.95
Board [4s 2c 7d 2d Tc]
Seat 1: CBJ13 (small blind) showed [Kd Kc] and won ($18.4 with two pair, Kings and Deuces
Seat 2: jdavid7 (big blind) mucked [Qh Qd]
Seat 3: HaSDe folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 4: wanna_do_a_J folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 6: ZaplinG (button) mucked [Ah Kh]

It was a bit dangerous I admit...either one of them could have had AA. But the initial raiser on the button only jumped a bit, kind of though tthe guy on the BB would fold after the all-in. Risky, but with 2nd best starting, figured I was cool as long as no A,Q, or J hit...the 10 scared me a bit thinking someone may have called all-in with 10's as well.

It was a no brainer hand after the flop...so it wasn't like I made any great plays...so it isn't a brag, just a little shot in the arm.

I should deposit $5 all the time, I do better than when I deposited $100

Up to $33.42 and climbing...
