Re: this might sound really stupid.....but help me out on this one.

I've also been having my doubts about online not being rigged lately. It seems the bad beats are just insane lately.

If I have two pair, know I'm ahead and someone pushes on me, I call and they have top pair on the turn and river their set or a higher 2 pair.

If I'm all in, someone will suck out on the river, etc.

My theory -- if someone is new to a site, they get the 'suck out meter' bumped up a little bit so that they make money on the site and keep playing there.

A friends theory -- the big stack will suck out more than usual so that the game ends sooner and people have to start a new game.

Super paranoid theory -- They have an algorythm that determines how much abuse you will take and still play, they adjust your beats accordingly.

Re: this might sound really stupid.....but help me out on this one.

How many more hands per hour do you think you are playing online as opposed to when you are playing live? (2 times, 3 times, 5 times the amount of hands?)

You can consider that part of the reason you see and take more bad beats, and see ridiculous hands online. You are playing alot more hands per hour-

Re: this might sound really stupid.....but help me out on this one.

It's a simple matter of remembering the bad beats more than the suckouts you won. No one ever squaks about sucking out on anybody. It's just human nature. I still remember having pocket aces cracked 2 out of three hands played a couple of weeks ago, but it seems to have slipped my mind about the runner runner flush I hit to win the next week's tourney. There is no justice in poker, but everyone knows that going in. You don't have to like it, you just have to accept it if you want to play. That might be the true beauty of poker. If the best player(s) won every time it wouldn't be much fun for the rest of us.

Re: this might sound really stupid.....but help me out on this one.

Some reasons that you do well live vs online.

1. You might be good at reading tells live
2. Most online players at the same stakes as live are much, much better.
3. You have much, much more time to think live vs online.

I find that the 4/8 fix limit games in Vegas and most cardrooms are about equal to the .25/.50 players online.
