A POB or something at mail boxes etc sort of store. Also, I think you might need a CAN phone number. I'm guessing you would probably need to show some ID to setup an account which may be an issue.
Have a friend that lives in Canada and his wife works at a bank. Maybe I'll ask him when he gets back, his wife just had twins yesterday. |

I dunno if it will get around the online gambling issue... 'Cause you'll still be a US citizen... but you should be able to open a "Casino Windsor Slush Fund"...
Lemme know what you find out... ANd tell him congrats (or my condolences) on the twins...

I suspect in due time we will have to cash out by check and deposit by checks too. If and when that point comes, I will be done with online poker. The competition will be over whelming. |

Bodog paper checks no good, supposedly FullTilt has the same problem:
Dear Mr. Fischer,
Thank you for contacting Bodog Customer Service. We do understand where
the confusion is stemming from in
this case. Both of the answers we provided to you were correct, however
they are referring to different
types of checks.
Paper checks, which you are asking about specifically, are not being
honored by the banks when they are
cashed. This is something beyond our control, and as such we have
stopped issuing paper checks.
Electronic checks are where we are having problems with our check
processors. This is a technical issue on
our side that we are working on, and is unrelated to the paper check
issue that you were asking about
specifically. We do apologize for the mix up.
Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to
contact us.
Best Regards,
Customer Service

On the bright side, I guess if people can't play online anymore, home games will get more popular! |

On the bright side, I guess if people can't play online anymore, home games will get more popular! | couple pieces of helpful info:
if you sign up with click2pay you need to answer a phone call they will give you to verify your account. If you don't answer that call your account will remain locked and you can't use it.
Also click2pay is a public company so there is some concern that they will be shutdown in the future, however they have publicly stated that they plan on staying in the market as long as possible.
I would suggest that everyone's best bet going forward will be epassporte. They are actually a international visa debit service (not run by visa) but function like a digital atm/debit card. They have fees (which suck) but they aren't too extreme. They also accept transfers from checking accounts, debit cards, and credit cards. As far as I know every major poker site accepts them, and Pokerstars recently updated their FAQ to recommend epassporte as the deposit method for all US players. Your epassporte digital debit number can also be used for online purchases just like a visa debit card without any fees.
Because of (1) their varied uses beyond online poker sites, (2) their setup as a digital debit card instead of an ewallet, and (3) the fact that they are a privately held company they are much more likely to survive the wrath of the DOJ and the UIGEA.
I plan on signing up with epassporte in the next week and seeing how it works. I have a feeling they are experiencing a rush of business right now, so I would not be surprised if customer service is somewhat slow at first.
one last bit of hope....the WTO ruling on the UIGEA will probably come out before the end of the month, and it is likely that they will rule in favor of Antigua and against the US's attempts to curb remote gambling. Whether or not the US will pay this any heed is yet to be seen, but it could help to turn the tide in favor of regulation and working with these other countries and offshore sites. the american people don't like this, and if international courts also rule against it our government might finally listen. And it can't hurt that Bill Frist is out of the picture and GWB will be gone in '08.
keeping my hopes up and a smile on my face..... | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
