Neteller WARNING !!! ---- MUST READ !!!

Just had a chat with CS

Karriann: Hello, how can I help you?

J: I would like to take my bank account off of neteller

Karriann: Can you confirm the name of your bank and account number please before removing the account?

J: I would also like to temporarily suspend any eft's

Karriann: Thank you, the account has been removed. Is there anything else I can help you with?

J: I was told of recent security breaches
J: can I speak with someone about that issue?

Karriann: I'm not sure what your asking?

J: I was told that people were having money stolen or EFT out of there neteller accounts and placed into various poker rooms and stolen

Karriann: The only way someone else can access your neteller account is if they have all of your account information. You also have to make sure that your computer is secure and updated with a fire wall. Neteller does state in the terms of use that your full responsible for all transactions.

J: I was asking to speak with someone about the recent security breaches

Karriann: I'm not sure you can send a email to our Investigation department for further information.

Karriann: You would have to email investigations@neteller.com, they don't have a direct line to speak to and they will contact you back through email.

J: ok thank you very much. I will be dropping them an e-mail shortly...

J: is there any way a person would be able to transfer money now that my bank account is off there from my neteller account?

Karriann: No I removed your bank account and all of your permissions. So you can only allow deposit form merchants to come through.

J: That means that money can enter my neteller account but not leave?

Karriann: That is correct the only way funds can leave your account is if there is a check request done and that would be sent to the address on the account.

I am going to drop an e-mail to the investigations. Maybe they will give me some info on what is going on...

UPDATE

I do use Gmail and it was also compromised. Once they got into Gmail they requested password through Neteller and BINGO!

Very fortunate for me that I was just looking at my email this morning at the time of the EFT. New email came through from Neteller to notify me of the EFT. I immediately called them to try to stop what what going on. The crooks only got about 40% of the EFT out of Neteller before I shut down the account - happens very quickly. I also closed the bank account - nothing had actually left there yet. Neteller will not be happy about this - they told me on the phone I was fully responsible - we will see what happens.

All in all, I was extremely lucky. My P* and Neteller PWs were different thankfully. Only a couple of things shared my Gmail password - more on this later.

this is starting to sound like the security problem is with gmail.

I just closed my account...I've been using a different provider recently anyway.

I am glad you caught this... I dont have a G-Mail acct but with all of this stuff going on I closed my Neteller acct. Its funny when you ask there support people about it and they act as they know nothing about this...

BW - only way I could find to close the account was with a phone call. If I hadn't wasted the time that I did looking for how to close the account, they would have gotten nothing.

Funny how hard the security guy stressed that I was fully responsible for this transaction - I think they must be having quite a few issues.

How dumb am I for not at least changing my passwords after what happened to Jamby? Sortof like with poker - I can watch others mistakes all night - never mean much until they happen to me. Oh well, lesson is now officially learned.

I would advise everyone to at least take off there bank account. If they get my $$ in neteller it wouldn't be nearly as big a loss as I would take if they got to my bank account.
