Chips: 1,075 | | | Online gaming laws for different states Does anybody know of a resource that has compiled whether online poker is legal or illegal for specific states? I'm in Illinois, so that's my major concern.
This is related to the cyber crime that I've been a victim of involving Neteller and PokerStars. I thought I'd start a new thread for this specific question since this kind of list could be helpful to others and this way it won't get buried in my other thread that's already exceedingly large.
Chase (my bank) is suggesting that I file a police report, but I don't want to risk getting in trouble myself for having money on deposit at P*.
Thanks in advance,

Makes me think twice for sure about filing a police report. It would seem that I'm in violation just by having an online account at P*. Quote: |

2) The P* crime is another matter but: is having an account or $$ @ P* illegal or is "gambling" illegal --something nothing to do with the actual crime(s) either.
3) consult a lawyer 1st either way

Sure it's now the law. But where is this new division of internet police and how are they going to arrest almost the whole population that plays poker online?
Just as silly a alcohol prohibition was.

Just as silly a alcohol prohibition was. | the law quoted by jamby has nothing to do with the uigea, that's just the existing law re: gambling in illinois. and the answer, of course, is that illinois doesn't pursue these "crimes." i'd bet that no one has EVER been prosecuted for PLAYING poker online in the state.
as far as the uigea, it doesn't make playing illegal, so no, i don't expect they'll be looking to bust anyone for playing. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
