Angry My Neteller & PokerStars accounts compromised - already lost over $1100

I'm dumbstruck by what has happened today.

I received two emails from Neteller this morning that they executed transfers in the amount of $750 and $300 successfully.

I did not authorize any such transfers. At first I suspected phishing email, but the support numbers, etc. were valid. I called Neteller and found that $750 was transferred into my account there by ETF transfer today and that over $66 in fees were levied on the transfer.

Shortly thereafter $300 was transferred from my P* account - the only online poker site account I have any money in at all. The money was immediately transferred out to two sites that I've never even heard of, but are obviously gaming sites.

The folks at Neteller weren't very helpful and suggested straight out that I had done something stupid like respond to a phishing email or send my password via email or... You get the idea. They say that they'll open an investigation into the matter, but in the meantime there's nothing I can do.

Ideas? Suggestions? My bank says they can't stop the transfer without 3 days notice and I'm sure based on past experience it will go through tonight.

The thing is, I haven't even used Neteller since September. That's how little activity I have with online gaming.

My account is going to overdraw so I've got to move fast to protect that and I've notified P* via email as I can't find a support phone number for them.

I don't know what else to do and feel really helpless.

No way to cancel per NT. It looks like it went into two different accounts - one at Paradise Bet Ltd. (Paradise Poker?) and one at Betway ???

Wow. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I don't use Neteller but thanks for the heads-up. Good luck.

How about closing that bank account before the transaction goes through. Then open a new account elsewhere. Good luck.

Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

I suggested that, but Chase says that closed accounts are automatically reopened by any ACH activity within a certain number of days of closing. That unfortunately won't work.

if it went to gambling sites, it had to go to someones account, they can't tell which specific account?

Maybe contact the places where the money went.

OPf course the biggest question is how did they get your account info.

Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

Not sure how to even go about that since I don't have accounts at thsoe places. I believe that Neteller is going to have to initiate that and track where the funds wound up.

Agreed, absolutely that's the biggest question and based on the time that it has taken me to get through to them today on the phone, I don't think I'm the only person who's account has been apparently hacked.

Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

I've had trouble with that too today.

There's no way that anybody got my account credentials from me - I'm 100% certain of that.

That doesn't leave too many alternatives.
