I haven't checked mine yet, but no emails from them today to indicate activity, so that's a good thing.

If you don't gamble much online, i would tell you and everyone, to use 2 different bank accounts. one for all of your online tasks, and one for your personal savings. If you dont keep much money in your online account, you are alot better protected in the long run.
Just because your an IT guy doesnt mean someone in the UK doesnt spend 18hours a day learning how to crack your passwords. I change my passwords to everything about every 6-8 months, and i use enough random characters it wouldnt be hard to guess outright. but either way thats horrible.
I hope you get your money back, It wont be easy tho. after this matter I would open 2 new bank accounts, and posibly change your P* name and start fresh.
If you Don't get your money back, Im sure we could all pitch in a few bucks for you, 3k members i dont mind would miss a dollar or 2

I just got off the phone with the manager of security at P*.
After talking for 1/2 hour+ here's the scenario that we came up with.
My Neteller account was hacked into by some means.
The InstaCash transfer was made to my NT account from my bank account
The perpetrator then looked through the activity log and saw that I had an account with P*.
It was easy enough for him to log into it as it's the same user id/email ID and password that I use at NT. Stupid me.
He saw that I had $300+ and transferred the $300 out via NT.
He then transferred all proceeds to the two sports betting sites.
I also know the P* ID of the person who was logged into my account this morning and he's from a computer located in Arkansas here in the states. Go figure. Quote: |

Please be aware that many cyber crimes are launched from other compromised machines or accounts. The investigators should be able to do this for you.
Hopefully it's not some 15 year old kid.

Wow, sorry to hear this, Jamby. I try to keep my account totals pretty low... If I want to play higher stakes, I'd xfer in, play, then cash out...
Keep us in the loop on what happens.

Chips: 5,913 | | | Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100 couple of ways to deal with that:
1) clear off spyware and setup firewall before changing passwords.
2) change passwords on a different computer or by phone.
3) type the password in a middle of crap on note pad and then cut and paste it into the its slot:
for example say my password is tmj2k then I would do this the first time I entered it:
dekwpatmj2kwaokq
and then cut and paste that into the password slot. after that your computer will remember it and you won't have to do that again, but a keystroke recorded couldn't easily figure it out.
But If your pc is pretty protected like it sounds like Jamby's was then there isn't a lot you can do. Sounds like a leak on Neteller's end, not the user end. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
