Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

Here's something else that's interesting. When I called earlier this morning I was told that somebody from the investigations department would call me within 24 hours.

I just called them back and was on hold for well over 1/2 hour. I wanted to make sure they were investigating both the P* and bank account transfers and not just the bank account one, which is all the CSR this morning seemed concerned with.

Finished the call just now and was told that I'd get a call or email back within 1-2 days. I mentioned that I thought it was supposed to be 24 hours and the CSR said "they're telling us now to say 1-2 days". Makes me think something is awry at Neteller on a bigger scale than just my account.

Neteller CAN help you but you'll probably have to raise holy hell.

Sorry to hear about this.

Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

Is there somebody or dept. in particular that you think I should try escalating to other than waiting on the investigations group?

Are you basing this on past experience?

Agreed, absolutely that's the biggest question and based on the time that it has taken me to get through to them today on the phone, I don't think I'm the only person who's account has been apparently hacked.
Just write an email to their site with the basic information. State that someone made unauthorized netteller transfers and are playing with stolen money. Ask for a phone number (or find one on their site) and request that the funds in question be frozen. It might not go anywhere, but it would not hurt for the sites to start looking at these people.

Most of the reputable sites (paridise would seem to fit) have some level of fraud control and take it pretty seriously. Many were burned a while back by people funding with credit card scams and most (if not all) will look into the matter quickly.

You do have more "outs", but you may not want to use them as this will most likely end the relationship with netteller. This transfer was going to an online gaming site, correct? I believe that this transaction was just made illegal. Talk to the bank and state outright that this transfer is being made to fund ofshore gambling and that processing it would be illegal. This is BIG leverage- as the banks (not you) are the ones committing the illegal act. The downside is that this may have negative repercussions with netteller. It sounds like this was an instacash thing (the funds were transferred to the site immediately and then the cash withdrawn at a later date). So NT should then rescind the deposits and probably want some fee to continue to be able to use the account.

Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

Done. Great advice and thanks.

Turns out that paradisebet ltd is a different site than the paradisepoker that we're familar with here. I emailed both sites.

Let's see where it goes.

Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

Yes. According to them, Chase's hands are tied until the electronic debit posts - then I can launch an investigation there. They can't stop it without 3 days notice.

That makes absolutey no sense...a bank can't freeze funds FRAUDULENTLY taken unless there is 3 days notice?

How is anybody EVER going to have ANY notice of a fraudulent transaction???

That's what I was thinking.

Re: My Neteller account compromised - already lost over $1100

I believe that contesting the ~$800 transaction with my bank is going to be the easier one than the $300 that wiped out my P* account.

Not sure if I'll have to use the leverage you're referring to, but it's good to be aware of. It was instacash - on both counts. Funds were debited within 5 minutes of being credited.

NT already closed my account with them. I'm not at all sure that I even care to open another account with them.
