I've got to tell you that it was very comfortable dealing with human beings face-to-face in a brick and mortar establishment.

-jamby | Andi,
I'm sending you some good vibes here. I hope everything works out.

Chips: 3,968 | | | Re: My Neteller & PokerStars accounts compromised - already lost over $1100 I talked to my friend. He said $1100 is probably under the threshold that the FBI would get involved, but he did have a few suggestions.
1. Call your local FBI field office and make a report. Can't force them to open a file, but at least a report will be filed.
FBI Chicago
2111 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60608
(312) 421-6700 http://chicago.fbi.gov/
2. go to the Internet Crime Complaint Center and file a complaint. They are an information clearinghouse. They cross check complaints to determine if there is a pattern. Your $1100 might not be enough to get the FBI to open a file, but if you and 9 other people make substantiatlly the same report, they will forward all the info. to the FBI. Again, they can't force the FBI to open a file, but when the leg work is dropped in your lap, it makes it easier... And if Chase Bank has got hit a few times, it might be enough to get an investigation open. The Internet Crime Complaint Center is a partnership between the National White Collar Crime Center and the FBI. http://ic3.gov/
He also suggested the you contact your bank, but you've already done that.
Bottom line, you've had $750 taken out of your bank account without authorization and transferred into Neteller. Having a Neteller account isn't illegal... Somebody needs to be held accountable.
Good luck, keep us posted.

The really disappointing thing for me is that NT still hasn't even had the courtesy to contact me and let me know they're working on it.
If anybody has ideas for dealing with Neteller, please share them.
-jamby | i doubt this will help at all but I was able to get some help from NT one time through their online 24 hour chat feature. If nothing else they have to log all of those conversations so maybe eventually they will start paying attention if you have complained via every avenue.
I also find that giving threats (no matter how empty they are) about bad mouthing their company to all of your friends and every online forum (2+2, individual poker forums etc) sometimes actually works. They really don't like these stories getting out and they might be more likely to help you out.
also you might sign up on 2+2 and make a post because this has happened to some of their members, and if you can ignore some of the stupid troll sarcastic posts that will inevitably happen you can get some good advice and support.
hope you are getting closer to getting things figured out.

Do you think that the fact that I have the P* account though is going to cause me a problem with the authorities since that is illegal in Illinois?
The $300 from PokerStars is the part of this that I have always felt would be the most difficult to recover.

If so, it might make it more difficult... a drug dealer doesn't go to the cops when he gets ripped off... But the other unauthorized transaction was above the table...

The thread discussing it is here: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/online...nt-states.html
As Jim points out above, the best bet might well be to pursue hounding Neteller. Quote: |

Completely ad and community supported, AFAIK. They have gotten lots of money from lots of shady casinos.
Alternatively, you could accuse the casinos involved of actively colluding with these fraudsters and threaten to file charges in the UK... where gambling online is legal and apparently where these transactions took place.
In any case casinomeister.com is a great resource.
