so thats it? they just said we cant do anything about it and TS? they know who it is, it was fraudulent use and they said sorry? this totally blows. i wonder if this info was even correct, if the name and ip arent just hi-jacked from someone else.

do most folks from the UK have isp service from the Netherlands? doesnt sound right, i think the person is giving out false info. maybe you can contact e-commercepark.com about this ip and find out more info.

Here is another link from a 2+2 IT security guy who goes into great detail, step-by-step, how to protect your pc from hackers. There is a long thread afterwards that contains some updates, but the first part is extremely helpful.

My next day off from work will be spent doing as much of these things as I can.

jamby - I am a lurker at 2+2 so I can't start a thread, but I'll keep my eyes out for any good info from the posts there and bring it over if I find it.

Re: My Neteller & PokerStars accounts compromised - already lost over $1100

Thanks again Jim.

What do you guys make of the fact that this seems to be more than just an isolated case now? That was my suspicion all along. It just seemed goofy that I'd be the only target.

Re: My Neteller & PokerStars accounts compromised - already lost over $1100

Andi, I would be pushing neteller to reimburse your funds. Since these poker rooms are unwilling to do anything, you gotta push NT to get the money back.

There should have been some confirmation along the line that the person making the deposit from your neteller account was in fact you. The email address that was used to register the poker accounts obviously won't match the one on your NT account and that alone should have been a red flag, since that is supposed to be part of the security process when using NT. If the poker rooms and/or NT didn't flag that or match it up before letting the money go, then that was negligent IMO.

Re: My Neteller & PokerStars accounts compromised - already lost over $1100

I think you mentioned previously that you P* & NT had same name and passwd.
Big no no.
But I thought I saw you used several other poker sites --hopefully not with the same name and passwrd that would be double no no , heads off and rolling on the floor!
Even if you use the same Alias at poker sites you should allways use different name for every single financial account you have online and a different pass for every single site you access, period.

Re: My Neteller & PokerStars accounts compromised - already lost over $1100

John, that's almost exactly what the P* Security Dept. Manager said. Precautions are supposed to be taken by the online sites and it appears that they were not.

As for pushing NT - they have yet to respond to my multiple requests for help. Supposedly, their investigation department will get back to me at some point via email, but so far nothing.

Here's something ineresting though that I've discovered since Jim posted the 2+2 threads. This is prevalent and discussed in lots of places relative to neteller and purported hacking.

Here are a few very interesting threads:

There are programs that change your IP address. One is Hide IP Platinum Plus. It can changes your IP address to just about anywhere in the world.
If the perp is using something like this it might be hard to trace the *&^%%&.
