I was playing at Full Tilt the other day and this situation arose.......
In the early stages of a multi-table No-Limit Hold'em SNG, I'm in the SB with KK.....UTG raises 3x BB to $90. The guy next to act who is already on a short stack calls, as does a player in late position. I decide to pop it to $400 with my Kings protecting my hand, UTG calls and the short stacked player pushes allin to $600. Folds around to me and this is where my question comes in. As it is folded around to me, I am only given the option to JUST CALL his all-in bet. Wait, I don't want to just call his all-in bet because it gives the UTG player price to call. I seriously want to get my money in right here. So why am I unable to raise after the short stack pushed all-in??? BTW.......UTG player called the allin bet preflop and on a 652 flop, I pushed, UTG folded, and the player allin showed A10, my kings held. Thanks

his raise to 600 wasn't a raise, technically, and so didn't reopen the betting.
you raised 310 (from 90-400). a "legal" raise would make it 710.
Jojo is correct. Roberts Rules, v. 7: All raises must be equal to or greater than the size of the previous bet or raise on that betting round, except for an all-in wager. A player who has already acted and is not facing a fullsize wager may not subsequently raise an all-in bet that is less than the minimum bet (which is the amount of the minimum bring-in), or less than the full size of the last bet or raise. (The half-the-size rule for reopening the betting is for limit poker only.)
