bad luck or REALLY bad luck

So twice now in 2 days I'm in a tourney and get dealt pocked AA and get all my money in pre-flop against a larger stack who fills up their draw on the river. I hear you, you're saying what is so unusual about that? Well the hand they filled up both times was a straight flush to the king!! WTF??

You got your money in when you had the best of it. That's all you can ask.

Re: bad luck or REALLY bad luck

Its hard to swallow, but Blake is right...

I would be interested in hearing how the preflop betting went, and what the circumstances were concerning the tournament and where you were at in the tournament, chips, time, blinds, position...

I love this part....IMO...lol There is too much preflop betting going on. Getting everything in with AA is great, but why not do it after the flop, at least sometimes. You gain more information from your opponents and although it may be hard to do, you can lay down that AA once in a while. Granted in both cases they didn't fill up until the river so based on player information could you have scared them off the pot with betting post flop?

Plus online poker is rigged, but of course everyone knows that!

Um...

You've heard all the stuff before money in, best hand, percentages...

But in this case, the poker gods are sending a distinct message here. ...They hate you.

All I can say is, thank goodness they've decided to pick on someone else these days.

For a while there I was starting to think I'd have to set up a spare bedroom for these very unwanted and uninvited guests.

Re: bad luck or REALLY bad luck

That's REALLY bad luck...but look at the bright side...

The odds of getting beat by a straight flush again is better for you now than others since you just two in the rear!

At least you had some time to buy a new mouse between tournaments.

I was playing a SnG last night - and THREE TIMES had someone go runner runner to take the pot ( one st8 and 2 flushes). The 1st two were when I had them well covered, the last one was my swansong. Not as brutal as them hitting royals, but the short timespan just hurt.

Re: bad luck or REALLY bad luck

Thanks for the backup Guma. It's hard to take but are you going to muck Aces pre-flop in fear of someone making a straight flush on you or cracking your Aces in some other form?
