Re: 4 pair in O8....wtf?

If you haven't seen it before, you must not have play too much O8. I had 4 pairs such as above many times. Most of the times with cards such as above, I wouldn't even limp in to see the flop.

Very true, its the 3 pair flops that are more interesting especially when someone pots into you.

My favorite 4 pair (or 4 something)

Re: 4 pair in O8....wtf?

I was watching my husband play an omaha tourney the other day and he made 4 pair (neither of us has much omaha experience). My decision was that 4 pair kinda sucks, in the same way that three pair often sucks in hold'em.

Re: 4 pair in O8....wtf?

I laugh when I hit everything on the board. Playing LO8 at the Trop in AC this weekend (I'm 27 - so I'm surprised they let me play ), I have K442 ds. Board ended up K24K4. I didn't get a call on the end, but I felt the need to show it for amusement. Four pair sucks, but not as much as 3 pair in Razz. That's when I get frustrated.

this would be me breaking down the hand...

well uh.. I have Ks 4s and 2s.

and 4s full of ks

and ks full of 4s

and 4 4s...

Do I win?

That's a wild hand. I'd love to see someone with the uber 9 card straight flush, or even better a 9 card royal.

Re: 4 pair in O8....wtf?

Here is the ultimate Omaha hand:

Board
A K 4 Q 5

Hand
2 3 T J

The sucky part, in Omaha H/L you are only guaranteed 3/4 of the pot.

How so?
In H/L you have a scoop.

SF Wheel for the low, and a RF for the high.

Re: 4 pair in O8....wtf?

One or more opponets can have 23 for a chop of the low pot. You can end up with even less than 3/4 of the pot but still a monster hand...
