On the good side of cooler + cooler

Fifth hand of a 20 table (180 person) MTT at P*. Stacks are still around the starting 1500 each.

WIth 7-7, I raise to 4xBB and get re-raised to 10xBB. I make the call and flop quad sevens. One of the few places where everyone agrees that slow-playing is the right play. The first guy bets 300, I go into the tank and then call, the other player goes all in. The original bettor calls. WHAT?! I flopped quad sevens and I just got two all-ins bet to me?! Easiest call ever.

1400 to 4140 just like *snap* that.

This hand wasn't really a cooler for the other guys... One pushed with J-6 and got called by J-J. A dumb play for J-6 (he had position, maybe he read weakness), maybe a cooler for JJ.

But it gets better.

Very next hand, I wake up to AA! Raise to 8xBB, hoping some would think I was being a bully. It worked. One guy raises all-in and before it gets back to me, I have another caller! Two more all-ins bet to me when I have the best hand! Even better, the other players were playing A-Jo and A-Ko. Unfortunately, I couldn't improve my aces, but unless someone hit four cards to the flush or three cards to the straight, the only way I could lose was if one of them made trips.

No bad beat, cracked aces here. Just another $5600 pot!

In two hands, I took my stack of 1400 (below the startng stack) to 7730 (more than 5.5 times larger) and first place, only six hands into the tournament. The only downside is that right after that, the table broke and I didn't get to take advantage of my image to steal some more...

Mind you, I'm not complaining.

Re: On the good side of cooler + cooler

Thanks, I'm trying. Generally, I don't like to win early, but hopefully I can play this big stack...

I'm in 10th right now, 100 people left to play.

Re: On the good side of cooler + cooler

Sorry hach... I just keep the Info screen up so I don't have to listen to the clowns... I didn't even see you.

Well... my inlaws came over unannounced and I had to fold hand after hand. I came back to 22nd place. I just busted in 52nd.

What a complete downer to what started out so good.
