So I received an email saying, "Hey - we've put $5 in your account, no strings attached!"

I dislike online poker. I'd much rather play in real life. I got a couple of sets of bonus Nevada Jacks, and played around a bit, but in the end I simply stopped playing online.

$5 free, though? Sure I'll play it.

First hand I played, I was dealt A/K. Flop was A/A/9 rainbow. Somebody else had A/9. Presto! Money gone.

I was behind once the flop hit, so I can't really call it a bad beat... but there's something very humorous about this situation.

Software installed, money lost, and software deinstalled: elapsed time <10 minutes.

Similar story with happy ending.

Played on pokerroom frequently for a while.

Stopped.

Received an email In September saying "Happy Birthday, here's a $5 tournament ticket".

Logged back in after months of dormancy.

Won $25 at a 1 table Sit-n-go.

Sat and went. Cashed out my $25 and haven't been back.

(Please don't ask me to talk about my previous money history there, I prefer to just remember my last experience of a free $25. )

I guess this story have a deeper message as well and it reflects many aspects of life pretty good I think.

Yesterday I told somebody that online poker is to live poker as masturbating at each other from opposite sides of the room is to sex.

Shame it doesn't fit on a bumper sticker.
