Chips: 5,114 | | | Possibly stupid Neteller Q This might be a stupid question, but, meh.
Since Paradise is one of the sites no longer catering to US customers, I cashed out by transferring everything to Neteller - not a ton of money, but enough of my meager bankroll that I want to keep track of it (a little under $800).
I don't have time to play poker in the next couple of months (but apparently enough time to waste time here, but that's another problem), so my plan is to just park it on Neteller until I need it. I have accounts at 'Stars and Full Tilt, but enough to sustain my limits for now. I was thinking I might as well wait for a reload bonus before depositing - I probably won't have time for this kind of thing until a couple of months from now.
After seeing other people's various levels of paranoia on the internet, I was starting to think maybe this was not a great idea. I can't possibly see why not, but my husband also seems convinced I just get a cheque sent to me.
If it matters (again, I can't see why not) my account is NOT certified. This just seemed like work I was too lazy to do, and unnecessary for how much I use Neteller for.
Okay, that was wordy. Here's the short version:
Any reason I can't leave some cash just sittin' around in Neteller? |

The only issue is once the government does eventually decide on the necessary implementation of the law. Neteller should give folks enough notice to actually get your money out though. You should have at least several months before this becomes an issue. |

Thanks for re-assuring me, this is pretty much what I wanted to hear. Quote: |

It is guarenteed as secure in a bank ... Paypal is the worst "online wallet". In their T&C's they essentially state they aren't responsible for any accounting errors (even if they are at fault). Store $$ there at your own risk ...

Chips: 5,912 | | | Re: Possibly stupid Neteller Q You won't have any problems getting money off of NT. Even if after the regs are written they decide not to do business with pokersites they are still going to stay in business both for foreign players and other non-gambling markets.
If you have the time you should go ahead an get your account certified. You can get help from NT 24 hours a day through the chat on their site, and they can do the sample deposit and get you certified within a day or so. Afterwards you will have greater instacash limits which makes depositing and withdrawing much much easier. |

I regularly keep between 500-1000 in there and have for many years now, up to as much as $5000 or so. Get certified, its very simple to do and then you can just transfer your money to your bank account in about 2 days.

NT is a well established company and has come on record several times (recently) indicating that funds are safe, secure, and avail. to the users if and as needed, at any time. |

From what I understand, being "certified" essentially links your bank account to your Neteller account, correct? It sounds like it is a way to move money around more quickly. This has never been an issue for me, so I haven't really bothered. Also, I think it would be difficult ot convince my somewhat paranoid husband this is a good idea (all joint accounts). I suppose I could open a new account in my name... possibly back home in Canada, next time I'm back. Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea. |

Chips: 5,912 | | | Re: Possibly stupid Neteller Q you're right about this. The certification is a way of Neteller confirming that you are in fact the owner of the account so that they can get money to you quicker and don't have to wait on your back to process the transaction. It helps when you are depositing on a site if you want to play right then and not wait 2 days for your bank to clear the transaction.
I think opening an account in Canada is a brilliant idea though. If the regs ever kick in you will have no problem playing as a Canadian account will still be perfectly legal with Neteller, and you will also be able to play on sites that have pulled out of the US because you can reference your Canadian account and a friend or family members address so they will think you are playing from Canada. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
