Turns out I was wrong....as soon as I get out of the tatoo line, I'm voting Blue! | Not to get too much of a battle started in this forum, but do you really think that Red/Blue makes a difference on this or on most legislation?Crap like this happens all the time with amendments being added to bills.
The best representation of this I found in an article today was this nugget about the amendment: According to Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-N.J.), no one on the Senate-House Conference Committee had even seen the final language of the bill. But Lautenberg managed to see $100 million within the Safe Ports Act go to New Jersey for rail, port, bus and chemical plant security, so he turned a blind eye towards the Internet gambling measure being stuffed into the bill at the last minute and voted for HR 4954.
So go ahead and call the 'blue' NJ rep if you want or many other Democrats who voted 'yea' for this (it was a voice vote for the amendment, too, so I don't know if it will be possible to get a record of the number of yeas and who was on what side) -- US politics is and has always been about money and greasing the wheel. This is no different than the countless daily bills that are passed and the recent trend to 'protect' americans through repressive legislation. |

A vote in the system is still a vote for the system. |
