Unhappy My tourney bad beat last night

I was playing a multi-table tournament last night and had almost $3000 in chips, above the chip average, and their were about 3/4 of the players left. I had a 5,6 suited and called the $30 big blind.

On the flop:

5 5 x

Someone raised $300 (three times the pot), and I called, thinking I was slow playing. At the turn:

5 5 x 7

Same guy raised another $300, basically limping in now due to the size of the pot, and I went all in, thinking well if he has a higher kicker, I'll get beat, but oh well.

Guy calls and shows a pair of 7s for a full house.

Grr. I guess I should have raised after the flop, but that was harsh. What hurt more was that he took forever to call.

This same guy had placed these super tiny value bets the entire time, when he had nothing, or if he had the nuts. Leading me to just call if I had a hand, never raising against him. I guess my second mistake was not continuing to do this.

I'm not real sure this qualifies as a bad beat. More like a stinky way to lose. He had you beat preflop (80%), the turn (97%), and the river (100%). You held the lead after the flop as an 87% fav.

But as I keep having to tell my wife, an 87% favorite still has a 13% chance of losing.

Re: My tourney bad beat last night

Okay, I was just watching "High Stakes Poker" on the travel channel, and Doyle Brunson did the same thing I did. He had 5,7 offsuit and the flop came:

5 5 x

Barry Greenstein with 6s raised $6K (half the pot), and doyle called. Then the turn:

5 5 x 6

Barry checked then Doyle raised $15K. Barry went all in, and Doyle called. Ouch.
