Chips: 121 | | | Tools to be Successful Ok, now I thought that I was a decent Hold'em player. I have played online for about 2yrs. I started with instant bankroll on Party. My bankroll high was about $400.
Now I have completed 2 PSO promos for Skulls only to lose my roll right after completion of the promo. I am not much on the side games, I prefer MTT and SNG's. Now I need to find out what tools (software etc..) that I need to try to fix my major leaks... Is there anyone that can help me here. I am a very small stakes player. My typical buy-in online is $50. I have read SS1 and a Ken Meyers (I think thats the guy) book on hold'em. I want to be a successful player just unsure the right path. I have taken a break from it. In hopes to learn somethings before going back to battle. Thanks in advance for all your help and suggestions... |

There is a hand-replayer so you can go back through street by street, leading to, "OH! I should have folded THERE!" and such statements. It's basically a front-end for a database that allows you to pick your and your oppoent's play apart. I would suggest learning what the different numbers mean before relying on a HUD at the table.
There is another program called poker office. I have never used it.
I believe you can get both through affiliate deals.
edit: oh yeah... pokerstars will send you ALL of your hand histories in a .zip file if you ask support. Since you are taking a break you can buy PT, import all the hands and check out your play.

Chips: 121 | | | Re: Tools to be Successful Smoore... Thank you!! I have looked at both the PokerTracker & PokerOffice. Now can someone tell me what the pro's and con's of each are? Also what is the better investment? Or is both the way to go? Another question will these programs work with play money (sorry I am gun shy right now) |

From what I understand, PO looks at tracking a little differently... like they automatically show you "saw flop" instead of VP$IP (voluntarily put $ in pot) which IMO (and most people's) is the more useful statistic. You can change PO around to be more "standard".
PT has a big community in it's own forum, I don't know about PO.
I'll go sit play money right now and see if PT shows the hands.

I'll go sit play money right now and see if PT shows the hands. | PT is supposed to be a bit more advanced while PO is supposed to be easier to use (IMHO PT is plenty easy).
For detailed analysis of the 2, check the Software forum on 2+2. There are plenty of discussions about the 2 there. |
