Re: Tools to be Successful

I personally prefer PT.

Pokeroffice has the advantage of a built in heads up display and shows you odds and hand strength while you are in a hand. Pokertracker has add on programs like Gametime+ (free) or PokerAce HUD ($30) which will show you stats of other players as well.

Another tool that is useful is Pokerstove. You can calculate pot equity based on an opponent's range of hands.

No actual experience with PO. I believe PO was like V1 when purchased PT so it wasn't a real option.

Re: Tools to be Successful

I prefer to use PT. It is plenty simple and has all the useful stats you need.

Re: Tools to be Successful

I use PokerTracker and like it fine. I probably don't use it enough, really, but mostly to track my wins/losses and earning rate.

If you are taking a break from actually playing I think a better investment than PT would be either Small Stake's Hold'em (if you're going to play limit) or the Harrington on Hold'em books, if you're going to play NL or NL tournies.
SS1 isn't going to cut it at online small stakes games, and I haven't heard of the other one.
Buy one or the others or both, become a winning player then go back to PSO and get PokerTracker for free.

Mike

Re: Tools to be Successful

PT + overlay program like GT+ = the nutz.

ever since i made this purchase i've been winning $1000000000000 per month.

not so much, but they're invaluable tools. another invaluable tool is the fold button i recommend everyone use it 10-50% more often then they think they should.

Re: Tools to be Successful

Thank you to everyone for all of the great input and feedback. So if I understand this if plan to play NL or NL torneys I need to get Harrington on Holdem? Any volume that would be better? Or should I just start with the 1st one? Also JoJo you talked about PT and another program... Can you give me somemore info on this??

overlay program / hud (heads up display) - The 2 most popular are GameTime+ and PokerAce (I use). I believe PokerOffice has one included with it.

These programs take data from your PT database and overlay various poker site skins with information about your opponents. See below. The

Re: Tools to be Successful

Here's a more recent example (sorry TG) with the layout I'm currently using:

V = VP$IP% - Voluntary Put $$$ in Pot (higher number = looser player)
P = Prefop Raise - How often they raise preflop
T = Total Aggresion Postflop (how aggressive they are, not sure of the exact calc)
B = Big Bets Won/100 hands - how profitable they are
W$ = Won $ SD % - How often they win $ at Showdown
WF = Won $ when saw flop
H = No. of Hands.

Also, I show many of these for the table averages.

Awesome!! Thank you for the great tutorial... Now couple more questions. This is the HUD right? This is in addition to PT (more cost). Also are your hands auto imported to PT or do you have to get hand history from poker room first??
