Chips: 30 | | | Re: AA sucks I couldn't agree more. I am so sick of losing with AA to a medium to small pair that trips up. I have actually taken a small break from my cash game because of stuff like that....burns me up. |

Sure it might look good, but it really doesn't benefit you in the long run, except to make you think you have something great, when you don't. |

Were there any over cards? I can't blame the guy too much for getting attached to the overpair. I remember when I was in my cold call, check-raise all in with QQ on any flop w/ all under. |

I bet the pot and get raised all-in... Of course, I am thinking "He called me with a low pair and now hit a set, dammit!" but I guess I am just not a good enough player yet to be able to lay down AA.. When I finally can, and I am not shown a total bluff, maybe that will be the sign that I have taken my poker game up a notch.
But I guess a player who consistantly calls a 5x raise pre-flop with a low pair will lose a lot more money in the long run than I will. |

Basically you need a good read on player to make this laydown IMHO. In low limits, I probably get stacked here most of the time unless its a scary board (flushed, 2xK, 2xQ, etc). I had a similar hand the other day but I got lucky because it was flushed board and the guy flopped a set. The scary board kept the betting to a minimum. Quote: |

| Not necessarily. If I had 22 and knew you had AA and I' still make this call if I knew I could get a sizeable chunk of your stack here if I hit. If I miss the flop, I'm out the 5BB but if I hit the flop, along as I can get another 35BB out of you, its the right call. This play is usually reserved for deeper stacks or multiway pots. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
