Tricky Hand

Advice and thoughts.

Opponent seems like a solid player over 100 hands (VP 24, PF 9, TA 4, W$SD 75)

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed)

MP3 ($16.50)
CO ($22.15)
Button ($18.15)
SB ($35.65)
BB ($23.85)
UTG ($29.70)
UTG+1 ($26.55)
Hero ($26.55)
MP2 ($9.80)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K, A.
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.75, 2 folds, CO calls $0.75, 3 folds.

Flop: ($1.85) Q, 6, 6 (2 players)
Hero bets $1, CO calls $1.

Turn: ($3.85) K (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $2, Hero calls $2.

River: ($7.85) 4 (2 players)
Hero bets $3.75, CO raises to $9,

Hero?

Re: Tricky Hand

I'd prefer a little more aggressive play before the river, but what's done is done.

Once you get to this point, I'd fold.

Re: Tricky Hand

calling costs you 5 to win 22ish, so i'd make the call. but i think i expect to be beaten.

i guess he's got a six more than half the time here.

Re: Tricky Hand

As played I fold.

I would have played it a bit differently. I definitely would have bet the turn instead of check calling, and then I would check call a reasonable river bet.

What does he raise with on the river that you're beating? Think about it :P

Re: Tricky Hand

Your best outcome might be a split pot with an AK if he has a real hand, otherwise you are probably beat. But as jojo said with better than 4-1 pot odds and top pair top kicker on a no-str8 no-flush board you probably should call.

what did the villain have?

Re: Tricky Hand

I'll post the results now mostly because I have a game later and won't be able to post an update till tomorrow; playing with a bunch CT'ers and HPT'ers tonight.

HE did call as I was actually the villian in this hand. The results are here:

Results in white below:
Hero has Kh As (two pair, kings and sixes).
CO has Qh Qd (full house, queens full of sixes).
Outcome: CO wins $25.85.

Any comments on my play? He was betting so I didn't see the need to raise and advertise my hand to early.

Re: Tricky Hand

I like your play on the hand, only hand you have to worry about would be pocket kings or pocket 6's. I always love it when you get headsup against a very aggresive player and you have a very strong hand and you have postion. You just let them hang themselves, as they will most likely do unless they are smart and catch on.

When I wrote my reply, I said to my wf who was standing there... "that just doesn't seem like the way hach plays."

Your play was good. Nice when it happens that way, huh!

Re: Tricky Hand

Thanks for the comments.

I was curious to what advice would be offered to my opponent or what sort hands folks might put the villian (me) on.

Hopefully, no one thought I was deliberately duping anyone.
