Shootout - so close

Yet so far.

Finished my first class last night - and rewarded myself with a few beers and a "party night" in poker (playing low limits and just let loose).

Stars had a triple shootout turbo shorthanded ready to go - so I signed up. First table, wild action. Played tight and we were at the final 2 after like 20 minutes. The guy was passive - so I stole enough to see flops when he finally played back at me. An by passive---- I was able to see the flop on his deal for free 4/5 times. You can play that way - but not if you fold the BB 3/4 times when I raise PF.

Busted him with a flopped st8. I had 58off - he had AK, lol. He did not raise preflop so I flop the joint for free (or 1/2 my blind anyway). Somehow - he thought pushing all in on the river after I bet the turn was a good idea.

2nd table - very tight players. Aggression took that one down.

Final table - OK play, but luckbot central. I had a couple of river spikes that left me as the short stack. Triple up - and we have three left. This table took the longest and it was turbo. Blinds were 200-400. I had like 1800 and the other shortstack had like 2600 left (we were only 800 apart). I am in the SB and havd TJs. The othet SS is in the BB. I push. He calls and flips up 22. LOL. Board bricks (waahhhhh, I had 21 outs for the river) and I get back my buyin.

22, this just kills me. We would have been about even in chips and he risks $213 on a call that would only be a coinflip at best. I could see the big stack trying this.

but I am out the $.20 juice

Man - I wish that final table was not a turbo. But hey, I outlasted 213 other people.

I actually played because I figured a turbo would be over quick. Some of the first round games took over an hour. Who knew.
