Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: LImit Study hi/lo tourney at P* Thanks Chuck. Just got knocked out. Had a couple of really big pots that I got involved in and shouldn't have just before the final table. Finished in 8th place.
Lots of fun though to learn a new game. We'll see how the follow-up tourney goes. Maybe this was just beginners luck on my part.
Poz rep to all this thread's helpers and well-wishers. I really appreciate it.

Now you can play in the Monday night side tourney when it's Stud Hi/Lo. I played a few weeks ago, never having played any hi/lo before just like you. It took a while to figure out all the same questions you were asking -- no low unless 8 or better (worse), flushes and straights don't count for the low, wheel can win both hi and low, etc..... Fun game! |

Just realize that I typed 'study' in the thread title instead of 'stud'. Kind of funny when you consider how much I need to study this new game.
I'd love to play in the Monday tourney.

Chips: 1,186 | | | Re: LImit Study hi/lo tourney at P* OK, I'm completely confused. I qualified for the next tourney with my 8th place finish yesterday. Got the invite and all from P*. Registered and it's just begun. I assumed it would also be a Limit Stud hi/lo game. It's not. It's limit hold em.
Is this typical of how freeroll tourneys are run at PokerStars?
Tips on limit would be appreciated too. I can't stand limit hold em.
Thanks,

Hahah, wtf? So anyone can win playing hold'em but it takes someone with zero experience, one that doesn't even know that you need an 8 qualifier to get a low to place 8th in a stud8 tournament?
I think what campcleavage really meant here is that holdem is a game of pushing tiny edges over and over and hi/low "8" games are more about pushing massive edges fewer times.
If not, then a misunderstanding of the theory is being applied.

Thanks,
jamby | Limit tournaments are strange for a NLHE tournament player. Basically:
Gamble is directly proportional to your M. High M = Lots of gamble, Low M = not much gamble. This changes when your M < 3. Now you want to gamble gamble gamble!
Use implied odds, freeroll players call down with air or one pair.

If blinds are 100/200 and you have a stack of 1200, your M is roughly 4 which is very low and in the danger zone. |
